My friend, Kathy, is getting married this weekend, so a couple of weeks ago I hosted a little get together for her in the Throwing Mud Gallery ‘paint your own pottery’ studio.
We started the evening going across the street at the Ginkgo Forest Winery tasting room. After tasting several of their delicious red wines, the bride chose her favorite and we bought a bottle to bring back to the studio to have with the food we had brought in.
Kathy decided she wanted a salad set. She would paint the serving bowl and the 4 of us would paint individual salad bowls to go with it. We looked through all the paint tiles and she chose 5 colors for us to work with. She also wanted words inside each bowl – “Love”, “Faith”, “Joy”, and “Hope”. For her serving bowl, she would have her and her new husband’s name, with their wedding date. I typed up the words in my Silhouette Cameo machine and cut them out on adhesive shelf paper.
With our paint color, our words on stickers, and our theme of “dots”, we all started painting bowls.
It was such a fun evening, plus Kathy will have a keepsake of our friendship and good wishes for her.
Here’s the finished set:
