Both Loren and James are potters that we admire very much. They share studio space in Seattle and between the two of them, bring over 60 years experience as ceramic artists.
Nationally known potter, Loren Luken’s porcelain pottery is for everyday life. His bowls, plates, mugs, and teapots are functional and beautiful. His sculptural forms have a bold painterly surface and rich glaze treatment.
The spirals, slashes and brushwork that James uses in the decoration of his beautiful porcelain pieces are inspired by the Mashiko tradition in Japanese pottery, as well as early American salt ware.
